Why I Changed the Title: From The Overthinker’s Toolkit to The Overthinker’s Study Toolkit

By Lisangelee Velazquez, M.S.

[Coming November 4, 2025]

When I first began writing this book, the working title was GiftedBecoming: The Overthinker’s Toolkit. It captured the spirit of what I wanted to offer — a set of practical tools to help gifted, neurodivergent, and deep-thinking minds manage overwhelm and transform overthinking into a strength.

But as the pages came to life, something shifted.

This wasn’t just a “toolkit.”

It was a study system — grounded, structured, and radically aligned with the real needs of gifted learners navigating the pressure of exams, performance, and perfectionism.

That’s why the final title is:

GiftedBecoming: The Overthinker’s Study Toolkit

Why I Made the Change

The word “study” isn’t just a detail. It’s a declaration.

Overthinkers don’t just need support — we need systems.

We don’t just need calming affirmations — we need anchored strategies that reflect how we actually learn, retain, and perform under pressure.

This book is designed to help gifted learners succeed in standardized testing environments where traditional study methods fall short. The new title reflects that intention more clearly and fully.

What Makes This Toolkit Different?

Unlike other exam prep books or mindset guides, this one is:

  • Created by a gifted adult who knows the struggle personally

  • Built on behavior science and radical behaviorism foundations

  • Filled with tools like the 3-Bucket Confidence Tracker™, Overthinker Decoder Sheets™, and Confidence Anchors™

  • Backed by research (and soon, a full PhD study on gifted cognition & performance)

And now, with Study in the title, the message is clear:

This isn’t just a book to flip through — it’s a system to walk through.

What Hasn’t Changed

If you’ve been following GiftedBecoming™ for a while, you’ll recognize the core heart of this book hasn’t changed. It’s still made for gifted, twice-exceptional, and neurodivergent learners who:

  • Think deeply but get stuck in performance loops

  • Feel intense pressure to “do it right”

  • Struggle with overthinking, perfectionism, and test anxiety

  • Want to pass the BCBA exam (or other high-stakes exams) but feel unseen by traditional study guides

This name change doesn’t dilute the mission — it clarifies it. It levels it up.

Mark Your Calendars: November 4, 2025
